Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions About Therapy
-
The consultation is a brief, low-pressure conversation where we can talk about what’s been going on and what kind of support you (or your child) might be looking for. You’re welcome to ask any questions, and we can get a sense of whether this feels like a good fit and what next steps might look like.
-
We'll talk about what brought you in, your current concerns, and any relevant background information. For younger clients, this may include some time with parents or caregivers. For teens and young adults, there is space to speak independently. There’s no pressure to share everything right away. We will go at a pace that feels comfortable.
-
Yes, I offer in-person sessions at my Oakville office, as well as virtual sessions if that feels more comfortable or convenient.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. If something has been feeling overwhelming, stressful, or hard to manage on your own, therapy can be a supportive place to talk it through.
Whether you’re a parent seeking support for your child or a teen/young adult reaching out for yourself, you’re welcome here.
-
A good fit often means feeling comfortable, understood, and supported. The consultation call is a helpful way to get a sense of that. It’s okay to take your time finding the right therapist. This process should feel right for you.
-
This depends on your needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions, and we can adjust over time based on what feels helpful.
-
Therapy looks different for everyone. Some people come for short-term support around a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll check in regularly to make sure things are moving in a helpful direction.
-
You can get started by filling out the contact form or booking directly through the online system. Once I receive your inquiry, I’ll follow up with next steps.
Fees & Policies
-
Therapy sessions are $220 for a 60-minute appointment. Typically, 50 minutes are spent together in session, with the remaining time used for note-taking and clinical documentation.
Fees for assessments vary depending on the scope of the assessment and will be discussed during the consultation.
-
Psychological services provided by a registered psychologist are HST-exempt.
-
Payment is accepted by e-transfer or credit card through a secure platform.
-
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to the full session fee.
-
Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by a registered psychologist. You will receive a receipt after each session that you can submit for reimbursement. If you’re unsure about your coverage, it can be helpful to check with your provider.
-
Your privacy is very important. Personal information is stored securely, and sessions are conducted using confidential and secure systems.
-
What you share in therapy is kept private. For children and teens, I balance keeping their information confidential while also keeping parents meaningfully involved in a supportive way.
There are a few limits to confidentiality required by law (such as concerns about safety), and these will always be explained clearly so you know what to expect.
You don’t have to keep sitting with this.
